Stories from the heart

Comfort Food, my novel set Jim Crow-era South Carolina is now available on Amazon. Read the synopsis here.

In addition, I have written a screenplay based on the final section of Comfort Food, A drama, "Little White Lies" is a story about being a teenager and Jewish in South Carolina during the Civil Rights era. (Email me if you'd like to read the script.)

The protagonist, 16-year-old Elysse, defies her parents and participates in a lunch counter sit-in. Her parents "talk the talk" but are unable to "walk the walk" and when Elysse and the housekeeper are arrested, everyone—her parents, the housekeeper and Elysse—is forced to make profound changes.

My story "Condolence Calling" was published in the Rose City Sisters short fiction blog.
