ABOUT/CONTACT
An experienced writer with a lifelong
interest in people and their stories

I began writing in sixth grade when a classmate and I started a newspaper filled with gossip about teachers and fellow students!
While "keeping a roof over my head" as a social worker (I have a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan), I wrote articles about my profession, mostly on mental health matters, which were published in various regional newspapers, such as the San Gabriel Valley Tribune and the L.A. Weekly.
Profoundly influenced by the two excellent cooks who raised me, I also write about my second passion: food. I've penned articles about my runaway-from-home cooking lessons in Rome and my childhood in the capital of American food, the South.
Currently, I'm a part-time lecturer in the School of Social Work at the University of Southern California. I also lecture and lead trainings at UCLA, Beth Shir Shalom, Jewish Vocational Service of Los Angeles, All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena and for military families—active duty as well as reserve and guard personnel. I hold an LCSW and have a private practice in Los Angeles.
I also earned a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.
After twenty-something years as a counseling professional, I have a deep insight into the human psyche. I have the empathy to connect with others so they are comfortable sharing their innermost fears, secrets and desires. These skills are reflected in the compelling characters and stories I create. For this reason, tales based on my own life are heart-felt, warm, tragic and emotive.
